Hey there! This project is an animated shot that I made for talented animator Jonathan Gibney.
This shot was quite challenging, and I learned a lot throughout the process— not only technical skills but also artistic ones. I was responsible for lighting, rain simulation, look development, sculpting, character texturing-surfacing, ship texturing-surfacing, sound design and compositing. Rendering was done in Cinema4D and Arnold, with compositing in Nuke. Additional assets such as materials, textures, and HDRIs were sourced from the Greyscalegorilla library. The character is the property of ©AnimSchool.
Cloth modeling, texturing and simulation was created by the amazing 3D Generalist Artist Van Vu Dat Nguyen - https://www.artstation.com/vanvudatnguyen
Special thanks to Deno for the help with the ship UVs!
This was a very interesting journey, as this shot provided an opportunity for me to develop my skills in Substance 3D Painter and simulations in X-Particles. We started working on this in June 2024, but since there were a lot of fixes in animation, cloth sims etc, it took a bit longer than I expected. And also 300 hours of rendering time... But it definitely was worth it! And, of course, I have to mention Francesco Giroldini, who mentored me and provided invaluable feedback throughout the entire process. He was the one who helped me develop my artistic skills and kept pushing the shot to the highest quality.
Hope you like it and let me know what you think in the comments
